Expired CropAid AntiFrost®still” protected crops against spring frosts in Bulgaria!

This spring, a Bulgarian farmer found himself in a harrowing battle against volatile weather patterns that threatened to decimate his entire harvest. With 92 acres of cherries, alongside strawberries and apple trees, his livelihood was on the line. This case study explores how CropAid’s innovative solution, AntiFrost®, provided a vital shield against an unexpected spring frost, saving a significant portion of his crops and offering a stark contrast to the unprotected fields.

The Challenge: A “Disgusting” Spring in Bulgaria

The grower describes the spring weather as “disgusting.” His region experienced an erratic seesaw of temperatures: 10-15 days of warm weather (), followed by abrupt shifts to 2-3 days of rain and wind. The most devastating blow came on the evening of the third day, as the rain and wind subsided, giving way to a sudden and severe frost. As the grower aptly puts it, “In Bulgaria we have a saying: After the rain, a hood. And that’s how it turned out for me.”

On both April 8th and 9th, morning temperatures plummeted to and respectively. This kind of rapid and extreme temperature fluctuation is a farmer’s worst nightmare, particularly during the critical blossoming and budding stages of fruit trees.

The Solution

Facing the imminent threat of frost, the grower made a crucial decision on April 7th. He chose to test his expired CropAid AntiFrost® on his strawberries and a select few apple trees that were already in bloom and bud. These crops, which are not his main source of income, were selected as a precautionary measure, so he could assess CropAid’s effectiveness and, crucially, to ensure there would be no adverse effects on his more valuable cherry crop. This decision, made under pressure and with limited time, proved to be incredibly prescient.

The grower, Dimitar Kuzev, said that his bottle was at most 5 years old.  We would like to point out at this time, that CropAid’sAntiFrost” product has a 3 year recommended usage from manufacture date and we wouldn’t suggest going past 3 years due to reduced efficacy.  However, as you can see below, good results were still achieved.

The Results

The results of his impromptu experiment were nothing short of remarkable. “Believe it or not,” he recounts, “everything looks good so far. The flowers are fresh and vibrant.” The strawberries and apple trees treated with AntiFrost emerged from the deep freeze largely unscathed, their delicate blooms and buds remarkably preserved.

Here is a video of the Bulgarian grower showing his healthy apple tree flowers:

The contrast with his untreated cherry orchards was stark and heartbreaking. “However, the cherries were not sprayed before the spring frost and they suffered huge damages of 80-90 percent, maybe even more,” he laments.

While his cherries bore the brunt of the frost’s destructive power, his treated strawberries and apples were spared. This striking difference provided Dimitar with invaluable insight. Seeing the clear benefits, he now has a definitive plan for the future.

Looking to the Future

Though the grower was able to save his strawberries and apple trees with a single last-minute application, this is not the way to achieve optimal results with AntiFrost. Its maximum efficacy is achieved through a proactive, multi-application approach that compounds the plant’s natural resistance. The result of multiple applications is the build-up of the plant’s own anti-freeze proteins within the plants, enabling them to naturally resist ice nucleation and cold stress.  Order CropAid AntiFrost to protection against spring frost.
