Award Winning Fruit Using AntiFrost®

After decades of suffering increasingly year on year from frost, in 2007, Highland Court Farm decided to try AntiFrost® on their top fruit and found the results surprising.

Simon Foad, the farm manager, trialled the product initially on Victoria plums and Conference Pears and documented the results.

Victoria Plums

There was a total comparison area of 6 Ha, 3 Ha treated and 3 Ha untreated. The product was trialled on both the “best” field, and an “establishing” field. The best field was reputed as the highest yielding field annually. The establishing field was a newer field which had not yet reached its full yield potential. Two applications of CropAid AntiFrost® were applied to the establishing field at a rate of 1 Litre per Ha [the recommended rate for maximum efficacy is 4/5 Litres per Ha].

2006 Yield [Before] 2007 Yield [After]
Establishing Field 27.50t = 9.16t/Ha 36.70t = 12.24t/Ha
Best Field 29.50t = 9.83/Ha 36.00t = 12.00t/Ha

While the best field increased in yield by 22.03% from 2006-2007, the establishing field with AntiFrost® increased by 33.45%!

Before the application of AntiFrost®, the yield per hectare of the establishing field was 6.82% lower than that of the bet field, afterwards, it was 2.06% higher than the best field. This is a change of 8.88% in the relationship between the two fields in terms of yield.

While the trial on Victoria Plums produced a distinct superiority for the field treated with AntiFrost®, the trial on Conference Pears truly revealed how remarkable CropAid AntiFrost® can be.

Conference Pears

3 hectares were treated, and the rest left untreated.

Following just two applications, at a rate of only 1 Litre per hectare [the recommended rate for maximum efficacy is 4-5 Litres per hectare], of CropAid AntiFrost®, there was a “massive” difference in yield.

While the untreated harvest yield was 9.6t per hectare, the harvest yield treated with CropAid AntiFrost® was 18.18t per hectare. This represents an astounding 90% yield increase.

Not only that, but the pear trees treated with AntiFrost® reported less pear drop, further increasing the consumable yield.

Apricots Saved

After being so impressed with AntiFrost® and its many potential uses, Highland Court Farm decided that they would test the product’s efficacy as a method of frost protection in the cold areas of the farms and on weak-cropping fruit trees. They used CropAid AntiFrost® to protect their apricot trees (0.8Ha) from a -5°C frost in March 2007*, which lead to the statement that they had “not encountered a product like this before”.
