Study by Estrada-Flores & Rivera-Colin – Servicios Integrales de Horticultura Ornamental S.A. de C.V.

Where’s the Action?

🌍 Mexico leads in cut flower production, especially in the State of Mexico, with top stars:

  • 🌹 Roses (Rosa spp.)
  • 🌺 Lilies (Lilium spp., Oriental group)
  • 🌼 Gerberas (Gerbera jamesonii B.)
Filler flowers like Gypsophila, Statice, Limonium, Liatris are grown on a smaller scale.

The Challenge

❄️ Harsh winters (Nov–Jan) near Nevado de Toluca = frost risk!
Low temps can damage foliage & flowers.

The Solution? CROPAID AntiFrost

Objective: Test CROPAID on roses, lilies, and gerberas during cold months.
Method:

  • Dose: 1L AntiFrost / 200 L water every 15 days
  • pH: 5.5 (adjusted with phosphoric acid)
  • Applied in greenhouses (50 m²) in Villa Guerrero & Tenancingo
  • 4 sprays over 2 months (Nov–Jan)

Results 🌟

  • Lily: +2–4 cm bud length, brighter foliage, +5 cm height
  • Gerbera: +4 cm peduncle length & floral diameter
  • Rose: Better floral opening, taller stems, less botrytis & frost damage

No toxicity observed
Improved quality & frost protection

Takeaway for Growers

👉 CROPAID helps reduce frost burn and boosts flower quality in cold months.
Perfect for roses, lilies, gerberas in frost-prone areas!
