CropAid® AntiFrost – Greece 2017 Case Report

CropAid AntiFrost trials continue to protect Crops, Increasing Yield and Enhancing Quality

Background

CropAid International Ltd. worked with agronomists in Greece to tackle the challenges of late frost, cold stress, and unpredictable climate conditions. In 2017, trials and commercial use of CropAid AntiFrost demonstrated remarkable results across a wide range of crops, including durum wheat, citrus, cereals, cotton, and potatoes.

Studies showed clear benefits compared to untreated neighbouring crops.

“Our CropAid-using growers didn’t have problems this year, but all the others did.”

Objectives

  • Protect crops from frost damage during sensitive growth stages.
  • Improve yield, quality, and resilience across multiple crop types.
  • Demonstrate commercial advantages, including early harvest and premium grain quality.

Findings by Crop

🌾 Durum Wheat

  • Protection: Crops protected from cold and frost events.
  • Protein Content: Increased.
  • Market Impact:
    • Below 13% protein → discounts applied.
    • Above 14% protein → substantial premium achieved.
  • Kernel Quality: Strong vitreous kernel content (85–90%+), qualifying for choice milling grade semolina.
  • Outcome: Improved yield, higher grain quality, and better prices for growers.

🍋 Citrus (Lemon & Orange)

  • Frost Protection Range: Effective between 28°F to 26.6°F (-2°C to -3°C).
  • Results: No frost-related damage recorded in treated lemon and orange groves.
  • Impact: Maintained fruit set and ensured stable supply for commercial markets.

🌾 Cereals

  • Treated cereal crops showed good protection from cold and frost, maintaining vigour and yield compared to untreated fields.

👕 Cotton

  • Yield Impact:
    • Much higher yields compared to untreated controls.
    • Heavier, denser cotton bolls.
  • Harvest: Earlier harvest window, improving market advantage.
  • Protocol: One application per month in July, August, and September, aligned with cotton growth stages.
  • Additional Benefit: Cold stress protection enhanced overall crop resilience.

🥔 Potato (Naxos Island Trial)

  • Small trial conducted on Naxos Island, famous for high-quality potatoes.
  • Results showed very successful protection under local conditions.
  • Demonstrates broad applicability of AntiFrost across root crops.

Conclusions

  • CropAid AntiFrost delivered consistent protection from frost across diverse crops in Greece.
  • Growers achieved:
✅ Improved resilience against frost and cold stress
✅ Higher yields (up to significant increases in cotton & cereals)
    ✅ Earlier harvests (cotton, cereals)
✅ Improved crop quality – especially protein levels in durum wheat
  • Commercial benefits included premium pricing opportunities for durum wheat and increased profitability across cotton and citrus production.
